When application is made for building regulations approval to a Building Control Body, a statutory consultation takes place
between that Body, and the Local Authority Fire and Rescue Service.
The purpose of this consultation is to allow the Fire and Rescue Service to detail any further fire safety requirements they
consider necessary under the Fire Safety Order 2005. These consultations will often result in amended plans having to be
submitted to satisfy local fire authority requirements, sometimes causing both considerable added expense and delays in
gaining approval for the project.
Our highly qualified and experienced fire safety officers, some qualified as fire engineers, can provide an effective building
design checking service. Our consulants are available to contribute fully at meetings for the design team process or deal with
specific aspects of the project to ensure cost efficiency and an appropriate fire safety design. The benefits of having a fire
safety consultant on hand to provide proactive and timely advice throughout the design phase, has become increasingly apparent
as the scope and complexity of fire safety legislation, guidance and Codes of Practice have increased.
Key benefits of using this service from Excell fire safety services includes;
Plans can be checked for compliance with the Approved Document Part B (Fire Safety) and advice given on any shortcomings or overprovision. This avoids the frustration and delay of a Building Control Body rejecting your submission on any fire safety related issue,
Our advice will result in the functional requirements being met whilst removing some unnecessary and sometimes costly overprovision,
Our advice will carefully consider the building design proposal and ensure a compliant design is submitted to the regulatory Authorities,
Aim to ensure that the premises, when occupied, will satisfy the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005,
A more streamlined and efficient process, which avoids the frustration and cost of producing schemes which may not ultimately reach the construction phase.
